The 2025-26 budget allocated $4m for green sealing on SMBI. Redland City Council Construction Crews will be moving from Russell Island to Macleay Island in September 2025 through to May 2026. Works will involve the installation of a gravel pavement and application of a two-coat bitumen seal. This will improve local streets, reducing the ongoing maintenance of roads which degrade very quickly after inclement weather and minimise dust generated from traffic using an unsealed road. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. The roads which are scheduled for sealing include:
- Swallow Road, Piccaninny St to No.3
