CONNECTING COMMUNITIES

A LOCAL RESIDENT WHO UNDERSTANDS THE CHALLENGES FACED BY OUR COMMUNITY.

As the parent of four adult children starting their families, Shane understands the issues faced by both younger and older families today. Issues of rising costs of living, balancing work and family, childcare, activities for younger and older children, access to healthcare, and support for older people. I live on the stunning Redlands Coast and want to see it managed properly.

A PASSION FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT

Shane is a founding member of the SMBI Permaculture Group, the Treasurer Bay Islands Multi-Sport and Recreation Association (stepping down Feb 2024), and former President of the SMBI Chamber of Commerce. He collaborates with local residents to support and grow the Redland Coast community. A custodian of one of the original Island farms, and partnering with IndigiScapes, Shane is actively engaged in food production, mangrove protection, wetland and habitat restoration.

UNDERSTANDS HOW THINGS WORK AND CAN RELATE TO ALL PEOPLE

A social worker, Shane has worked in community and hospital healthcare, managed government services, worked in corporate advisory services, academia, and runs a small business. Shane understands how the system works and how to make changes! He can relate to and talk to people at all levels.

ACTIVELY WORKS TO ADVANCE THE REDLAND COAST

Shane volunteers with Redland and Commonwealth organisations working to support sustainable development, reduce waste, create economic opportunities, boost local jobs, advance education and training opportunities, and build better transport. Shane is a Board member of Logan Redlands Regional Development Australia and a member of the Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Working Group, he is standing aside from these roles during the election.
